Total shares show the total number of social shares across all social networks currently tracked by Ahrefs (currently Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.)
The median is the middle point in a set of numbers ordered from lowest to highest. Median shares shows that middle point.
Note: We discovered that sorting articles by their median shares returns more compelling results than sorting them by total shares.
