Why can't I export my Ahrefs data out to CSV?

Find out how to export data to csv from Ahrefs and troubleshoot common issues

When exporting data, you may see the export option grey'd out. Or clicking on the Export button will not do anything. There could be a few reasons why you are unable to export out the data from the current report.

Export option grey'd out

If you see your export option grey'd out like this:

First, check if the Format option chosen is "Google Sheets". If you don't have a google account connected to export out to Google sheets yet, you need to set that up first by clicking on Link Google Account:

Alternatively, you can pick the other CSV options and the Export option should be selectable again.

Selected rows to export exceed plan's per-export limits

Every plan has a limited number of rows that you can export to csv each time:

If the number of rows you wish to export exceeds your plan's limits, you'll see a red message like below, that shows the number you must enter in the Custom field to export successfully:

The only way to increase this limit is to upgrade your plan. Note that this is not the same as exporting data out via API, which has different limits.

Running out of your Export rows per month limit

You can check how many Export rows per month you've already spent in the current billing cycle in Account settings > Limits and usage:

If you've maxed this out, you won't be able to export any more reports out to csv.

You can consider activating pay-as-you-go to purchase additional export rows. These additionally purchased export rows can roll over to 2 additional months if not fully consumed.

Alternatively you can upgrade your plan, or wait for the start of the next billing month to have your limits reset.
