Imagine you're doing a manual review of the backlinks pointing at your website, and you would like to find where exactly these backlinks are on the referring pages themselves.
Method 1: Using Ahrefs SEO toolbar
If you have the Ahrefs SEO Toolbar installed, you can easily find the link by clicking on the Outgoing links tab.
Open the referring page in a new browser, then click on the SEO toolbar icon. The toolbar window will come up. Open the Outgoing links tab and search for your target website (https://ahrefs.com in this case).
You will then see the link highlighted in the page:

Method 2: Identify where the link is via the anchor text
Not only does Site Explorer show you the website linking to you, it also shows you the anchor text and surrounding text of the backlink:
Copy the anchor text or the surrounding text (in this case, "Made by"), and open the referring website (in this case, https://wordcount.com).
Then manually search for it by using Ctrl + F (Windows) or Cmd + F (Mac):
Ta-da! 🎉 Backlink identified.
Method 3: Identify where the link is via the referring page source code
You can use Page inspect to find where the link is in the page:
The search bar is pre-filled with rules to find exactly the backlink referred to in the report:
To manually verify this on the live website, you can open the Referring page in the browser, then right-click anywhere on the page, and select "View Page Source".
Press Ctrl + F (Windows), or Cmd + F (Mac) and search for your target website (in our case: ahrefs.com). It should appear in your search:
Ta-da! 🎉 Backlink identified.
