When adding/importing a project or even verifying ownership of an existing project on your Dashboard, you may encounter the following error message:

What triggers this message?

We do not have access to the required scopes to use Search Console data for verification purposes.

How to resolve:

Method 1:

Go to https://myaccount.google.com/permissions to verify which level of access you have granted Ahrefs. We need to have "Additional access - View Search Console data for your verified sites" in order to perform ownership verification with Google Search Console (GSC):

Method 2:

Go to https://app.ahrefs.com/account/integrations and remove the Google account that has the "lost access to google account" issue

Then go back to your unverified project, and add the Google account again. This time, please make sure all checkboxes for permissions are ticked, before you click "Allow".

If you still encounter issues after performing these actions, please reach out to support via live chat or email at [email protected] with details so we can assist further.
