If you have a legacy subscription, it will be switched to one of the new plans by the end of October 2024. You would have received an email about this to your billing email associated with your Ahrefs account.

If you have questions about this, reach out to our support team's live chat or email [email protected]

There are two main differences between new and old plans:

1. New subscriptions that are Standard or higher now have unlimited fair use. Lite and Starter subscriptions use credits per month. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for more information about fair use on our platform.
2. New subscriptions have access to the latest features and tools in Ahrefs, that legacy plans do not have.

Lets compare the different features between the legacy and new subscriptions in the sections below. Features and tools that are exclusive to new plans are marked by '✨'.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be charged to add users on new plans?

A: You can add inactive users up to the max number of users for plan limit (Learn how). Newly added users are considered inactive and will not be charged until they actively use our tools. This is done on a pay-as-you go basis on monthly plans.

For annual plans you can either:

  1. Purchase additional users on the pay-as-you-go basis, or

  2. Pre-purchase for the whole year, thus saving a 2-months fee for any Add-on:

What are the types of users now?

A: New plans have either inactive users, or active users, with limits for each active user shown in the pricing page.

  • Inactive users will become active the moment they use any tool that is not Site Audit or Rank Tracker

  • Active users with unlimited fair use are subjected to our terms and conditions.

What are my limits for checking sites in Site Explorer or keywords in Keyword Explorer?

A: Lite and Starter plans have a single limit called “Credits” that is consumed when using Dashboard, Site Explorer, Content Explorer, Keywords Explorer and Batch Analysis.

Note: Site Audit and Rank Tracker have their own limits and do not consume credits per month.

More information about how credits are consumed are well explained here.

How many projects can I add with new plans?

A: The limit for non-verified projects is the same as before for Lite and Enterprise plans but it has increased for new Standard and Advanced plans:

Do I keep my tracked keywords in Rank Tracker if I switch?

A: Yes, all the data for them will remain intact. Moreover, the number of tracked keywords in Rank Tracker is now higher for new Lite and Standard plans:

What about update frequency for tracked keywords in Rank Tracker?

A: Each plan now offers weekly updates. But the good news is that you can upgrade to daily updates by purchasing an add-on.

Have the Site Audit limits changed?

A: "Crawl credits", and "Max pages per project" have increased considerably for Lite, and are also increased in Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise. These were summarised in the above Legacy Gain/Lost sections. Only Enterprise has the option to purchase additional crawl credits per month:

How long do you store crawl history with new plans?

A: Now data retention in Site Audit for all plans is 12 months from the time the project is created.

How far back can I check sites data in Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer?

A: Historical data access has updated to the following limits on each tier:

Was the export limit affected by this update?

A: Now we have a unified export rows per month limit for all the credit-consuming tools with the option to purchase additional export rows if needed. Site Audit and Rank Tracker have unlimited rows that can be exported.

Can I check broken links with the new Lite plan?

A: New Lite plans will not have access to the following Site Explorer reports:

  • Broken backlinks

  • Broken links

  • Outgoing links

Content Explorer, Batch Analysis as well as SERP updates in Keywords Explorer are now only available for new Standard plans and higher. Learn more about the differences between legacy and new plans.

Why should I switch now?

Almost all new features coming soon will be released for new plans users only. Switching to new plans ensures that you'll have access to them right away.

Switching to a standard or higher plans have unlimited usage for every active user.

How can I pay for new plans?
